The Maturation of The People of God. Paul continues to show the inferiority of the Mosaic Law by comparing it to the guardians over a child in a well-to-do family in that time. The son may own everything by right of inheritance, but until he comes of age, he’s no different than a slave. Once the child grows up, he’s freed from his guardians and is no longer under their control. In the same way, we are no longer under the old Law now that the object of our faith has come.
23 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.
